About this Role
The Worship Pastor is expected to be an elder/pastor and shepherd (a spiritual leader who leads, feeds and protects the people of God under his care at FBC Guymon). The primary role and leadership of the Worship Pastor is in the church’s worship and music ministries – leading the church according to the biblical principles of worship found in the Bible and the mission and vision of our church (www.fbcguymon.org). First Baptist Guymon is a church of 200-250 in the heart of Northwestern Oklahoma.
The Worship Pastor must be a man of character with a pastor’s heart and calling
– a mature and growing believer in Jesus Christ who seeks to walk in obedience to the Word of God and holds a passionate and firm understanding of the Gospel. The Worship Pastor must meet the biblical qualifications for spiritual leadership in the church as found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
The Worship Pastor must be a biblical theologian who seeks to study and teach the Word through music and songs of worship. In worship, we seek to facilitate an atmosphere that leads our gathered congregation to worship and glorify God through Jesus Christ by the Spirit, and the content of our response of worship is shaped by the gospel and the Word of God. The Worship Pastor leads the church in introducing and leading biblically faithful, gospel-rich, God-honoring songs and seeking to balance what is new to the congregation with that which is long known and loved.
The Worship Pastor must be have skill and gifting in singing and music, and be able to lead and equip others to use their singing and musical gifts in the worship ministry of the church.
The Worship Pastor must be work on a pastoral team, in alignment with and support for the vision and mission of our church and the spiritual leadership and direction of the present pastoral staff. The Worship Pastor will also carry the duties of pastoral ministry alongside other pastoral staff..
